Summer Competitions 2019
We are inviting all keen gardeners to enter our competitions this summer.
Whether you are just doing your bit to keep Horsham looking beautiful for the wider community, a large front garden, a small garden plot, impressive hanging baskets, an allotment or no garden at all, there is a competition for you.
The ‘Growing Without a Garden’ award
The ‘Growing Without a Garden’ Award, the most recently introduced category, is designed to recognise anyone who enjoys growing without the use of a conventional garden space.
Entries must demonstrate imaginative use of limited conditions to provide a horticultural display whether it’s in containers, baskets, on wall space or balconies, to give a few examples.
Last time winner was Talbot Alley, between Market Square and Denne Road where the residents brightened the twitten with the collection of window boxes, tubs and hanging baskets.
Prizes for the deserving winners will be Gold £80, Silver £60 and Bronze £40.
Entries must be visible from the road or public access route and entrants need not be at home for their space to be judged. Deadline for entries is 15 July and judging will take place early in August.
Front garden competition
Will your Front Garden with or without hanging baskets have a WOW factor this year? If so, enter this Competition for awards of £120, £90 and £60. As well as that all important WOW factor, judges will be looking for a good balance of planting, evidence of planning and maintenance and the absence of pests and disease.
Entries must be visible from the road or public access route and entrants need not be at home for their space to be judged. Deadline for entries is 15 July and judging will be in August.
Best Public House competition
Then there is the most eye-catching ‘Best Public House’ Competition’. Last year many of the pubs in the town produced stunning displays. Who will win the Gold, Silver and Bronze wards this year?
Deadline for entries is 15 July and judging will be in early August.
